The 俄罗斯 program prepares students to communicate and interact in 俄罗斯-speaking cultures and communities and focuses on geographic and cultural awareness as well as language learning. W&J students who minor in 俄罗斯 Area Studies can expect to reach the intermediate or advanced level in 俄罗斯 by their junior year, and must take at least one advanced-level language course to graduate. In combination with other disciplines, 知识 of this widely spoken world language opens myriad opportunities for our students.

The mission of the Department of Modern Languages is to impart to all W&J students the skills, 知识, and qualities necessary to communicate and interact in culturally appropriate ways with speakers of languages other than their own. The Department of Modern Languages is, 因此, a key component of a liberal arts education and serves the mission of the College by preparing students to become observant, 响应, and 知识able actors in our increasingly multicultural and global society.
